About the Cat

This weekend is a big weekend for the cat, Larkin. He gets to go tour his new home and meet his new housemate and buddy, Taz. Our friends Dan and Dawn have agreed to take Larkin for the next 6 months - provided he and Taz get along (or at least leave each other alone) and no-one starts peeing in the house.

So Dan calls me on Monday to confirm our visit and Larkin's preview of his new home. "We're thinking you should just leaving him with us this weekend... For good. So you'll be available while the cats are getting acclimated to each other to come and get him if there are any problems."

Oh, really. My heart skips a beat. This all makes sense. While my brain takes this in and weighs the pros and cons and quickly grasps the logic behind Dan's proposal, a voice in the back of my head is screaming, "Not my Fluffy! Not so soon! I'm supposed to have him for another month and 1/2." (Ignoring, of course, that we're going to be out of the country for 3 of the next 6 weeks.)

So, alas, this is the weekend we give up the best cat ever to his new home until we return in October. But, cats are strictly forbidden in the dorm rooms, so we can't take him with us. Just keep your fingers crossed that Larkin and Taz can "play nice."

PS Larkin is a very round long-hair cat, thus the nickname "Fluffy."

The Countdown to Yellowstone

As promised, I'm starting a blog for our time in Yellowstone. It's my 1st blog, so we'll see how this works. I'm working at the library, so maybe I'll even figure out how to get a profile picture posted one of these days.

As usual, things are a bit crazy here. Since we're getting ready to move for 6 months to the middle of the country and need to pack up and rent our house (plus it's tax season already!), we decided this would be a great time to take a vacation! We head to Munich March 11 to visit our friends Marta & Bryan, then to Italy to visit Alex's friend, Lucio. Actually, it's a great time to visit them - if we wait too much longer, Marta & Bryan may move back to the states plus we're on our "own time" so to speak, so we have the time to go.

Alas, my time at the library is running out, so it seems my 1st blog will be a short one. More coming soon.
